The Most Dangerous Occupations in 2008
The rise of labor unions and workers' compensation laws in the first half of the 20th century was in response to a growing concern over the conditions in which employees were expected to perform their occupational duties. The increased use of heavy machinery, for example, was one of the factors that had served to endanger the health and welfare of workers to a greater extent than before.
