Jorgensen wins decision in thriller at WEC 50
Scott Jorgensen is known for bringing exciting fights, and his bout with Brad Pickett at WEC 50 was no different. Jorgensen won the decision, 30-27 on all three judges' cards. Jorgensen and Pickett went back and forth in striking in the first round. Jorgensen took Pickett down, but then was nearly caught in a guillotine. Jorgensen showed good defense in getting out. Action never slowed as both fighters took shot after shot from each other. Amazingly, this pace continued as the fight moved to the second round. Jorgensen sent Pickett's mouthpiece flying with one shot, and Pickett immediately picked it up, put it back in his mouth and kept fighting. Both fighters looked bruised and battered by the third round, but they continued to throw down. Jorgensen answered every Pickett punch with a counter-punch, and every submission attempt with perfect defense. Jorgensen was also able to take Pickett down, possibly pushing him ahead on the judges' scorecards. With that win, Jorgensen likely earned himself a bantamweight title shot, with wins over Pickett, Antonio Banuelos, Chad George and Takeya Mizugaki.
