You'd think handing infamous street fighter Kimbo Slice his first professional MMA loss would've vaulted Seth Petruzelli towards fighting riches and too many options to sift through. That's not exactly the way it worked out for the light heavyweight fighter from central Florida. Instead, Petruzelli was lambasted and blamed for the demise of EliteXC and essentially got blackballed from fighting in any other legit organizations. Petruzelli has only fought twice since that Oct. 2008 night but he's kept a low profile and made sure that he was hanging around the right people. He finally caught the eye of UFC matchmaker Joe Silva and he gets another shot at UFC this Saturday night at UFC 116.
If you're a relatively new fan of the UFC, you may not now that the guy who knocked off Kimbo, already had a brief stint with the promotion back in 2007. Following a semifinal exit from Season 2 of "The Ultimate Fighter," Petruzelli fell in his only two UFC fights against Matt Hamill and Wilson Gouveia.
Cagewriter caught up with Petruzelli while he was training at Wanderlei Silva's gym in Las Vegas. He addressed the crazy label he's gotten as MMA's most famous bisexual, his new found fondness for guns, if the Kimbo win actually hurt his career and what'll be different this time around in the UFC.
