Noons v. Heun: On one card, the guy on the right won 30-27?

Noons v. Heun: On one card, the guy on the right won 30-27?

Judging fights is no easy task. But when a fighter can't open his eyes for the entire duration of the scores being read, it's hard to believe he could've possibly won the fight. Yet one judge scored it 30-27 for the badly cut and bruised Conor Heun while the other two had it 29-28 for K.J. Noons after their bout at Strikeforce: Los Angeles.

What did Abe Belardo see in the rounds two and three that suggested Heunwon the fight? He was 0-for-5 in the third round on takedown attempts and got lit up by Noons' jab, uppercut, and left and right hooks. The first round won early by Noons was stolen back by Heun when he scored a takedown, mounted and took the back of Noons. But there's no way Heun, who suffered cuts above and below both eyes, won rounds two and three.

Lousy score aside, this was a nice win for Noons (9-2). Heun is a tough customer with a well-rounded game, he simply wasn't fast enough to defend himself against the pro boxer's hand speed and accuracy. Heun (8-4) deserves more shots with Strikeforce. He's one of the most entertaining fighters on its roster. And this makes two straight barn-burners for the Californian, who lost a close decision last year against Jorge Gurgel.
